You should avoid these top ten fad diets, why? I'll go further in detail about the reasons why they should be avoided, as these diets are not the best way in the world to lose weight.

The phrase fad diets typically refer to diets that promote a restricted eating-plan, which is unhealthy, and lack in sufficient calories. We can be slim and trim as these diets work in the beginning, usually because the suggested eating regimens help you cut calories in one way or other. As soon as you go back to your normal eating pattern, it might double your weight! This formula is just like a get rich quick scheme that offers lot of money in short period.

The first rule of the top ten fad diets don't allow you to eat a well balanced diet and merely cause your body to crash in order to lose weight. They suggest skipping meals, its right to skip 2-3 big meals but instead I recommend you to eat 5-6 small meals in order to screw up your body.

Have you heard of 3-day diet plan? Yes, I've heard about this fad diet that suggests dieters to be on a diet program and eat some typical foods for only 3- days. Great, lose weight in 3-days!

Top ten fad diets strongly recommend you to consume cabbage soup for seven days, only! Does this soup taste great? I think this taste problem plays an important role in cabbage soup diet plan, hope you understood my point. Naturally you will eat less and lose weight in 7 days.

It is the same case with raw food diet plan that permits you to eat uncooked vegetables, fruits, nuts, and whole grains. This is a vegetarian diet and if you're non-vegetarian fan you'll naturally consume less diet and in the process lose weight!

Should I say that Atkins diet is the best fad diet? In this diet plan carbohydrates are severely restricted and you can only eat high protein and high fat foods. Personally I feel this diet plan is insufficient for your permanent weight loss program.

The next amongst the top ten fad diets is the grape diet plan. It's all right you love to eat grapes, but it's frustrating if you're ordered to eat grapes or drink its juice regularly for a long duration.

The negative calorie fad diet plan sounds interesting! This diet involves eating foods that burn more calories to digest than you will consume. Great, but I don't think there are foods that actually have negative calories!

Can you rely on lemonade diet plan? In this plan you have to stay away from solid foods and even plain water. Thanks; at least you're allowed to take water with lemon, maple syrup or cayenne pepper. Just keep on drinking glasses of this lemonade mixture daily, if you're still hungry have another glass, isn't this so simple!

Generally you'll not believe on me if I tell you that the ice cream diet is one of my favorite top ten fad diets. Why should you believe? I don't suggest eating only ice cream but you can eat calorie-controlled meals, salads, and fruits and home made vegetable soup.

Finally, caveman diet plan is becoming one of the more popular fad diets. This diet suggests you to return to the eating habits of the days when humans lived in caves and depend on foods from the land. I agree this fact but one cannot stick to this diet plan for longer period of time, which is when MacDonald’s in sight.

The above listed top ten fad diets will not enable you to lose weight for long term, but you can lose weight for short term. Avoid fad dieting; instead eat a balanced diet that includes foods from all groups. Good eating habits and exercise can lead you to permanent weight loss.

Choosing a ferret diet: is a natural diet right for your ferret?

Until the last 40 years, ferrets were fed what we refer to as a "natural diet," which <noindex><nofollow>was similar</nofollow></noindex> to the diet of the domestic ferret's wild ancestors. In recent years as ferrets have become <noindex>more popular, they</noindex> have been fed commercially prepared ferret, cat, and kitten diets. While this is convenient for us <noindex>as owners, is</noindex> it what our ferrets were meant to eat? What exactly is a natural diet, and what <noindex>are the benefits</noindex> and concerns associated with it?

FERRETS ARE CARNIVORES

Ferrets are obligate carnivores, which means that they get <nofollow>their nutrients from</nofollow> a diet high in animal protein and fat. Their diet must be a meat diet, because <noindex><nofollow>they are unable</nofollow></noindex> to digest vegetable protein. They need food that is very low in carbohydrates, and they get <noindex>their energy</noindex> from animal fat. This is why proponents of a natural diet argue that ferrets' bodies are <noindex>actually designed</noindex> for a whole prey or raw meat diet.

Ferrets have a short GI tract populated with <noindex><nofollow>simple organisms, and</nofollow></noindex> they don't absorb nutrients as well as other animals can. They are intended to eat food <noindex><nofollow>that provides</nofollow></noindex> them with a highly concentrated fat content (calories for energy) and highly digestible meat proteins for <nofollow>maximum nutrition.

While</nofollow> there are a number of high quality ferret kibbles available today, many of them contain a <noindex>high number of</noindex> grains, corn, and other sources of filler material in addition to vegetable protein. Ferrets who eat <noindex>diets with excessive</noindex> vegetable protein can suffer from poor skin and coat quality, decreased growth rates, bladder stones and <noindex>other conditions.

</noindex> Insulinoma is also a concern, as a high level of carbohydrates in a ferret's diet puts <noindex>too much stress</noindex> on the pancreas. While there is no definitive proof that a diet high in carbohydrates causes <nofollow>insulinoma, it</nofollow> just is not healthy for the beta cells in the pancreas to be overworked. When beta <noindex>cells work too</noindex> hard, they become overactive (hypertrophied) and either burn out (stop working altogether) or go to neoplasia <nofollow>(cancer).

MYTHS ASSOCIATED</nofollow> WITH A NATURAL DIET

Before I explore what feeding a natural diet entails, there are a <noindex><nofollow>few widespread misconceptions</nofollow></noindex> associated with feeding whole prey or raw meat that need to be addressed.

First and most <nofollow>importantly, your ferret</nofollow> will not turn into an aggressive wild animal if you feed a raw diet! Kim Schilling, <nofollow>author of</nofollow> Ferrets for Dummies, draws a great parallel. She points out that cats are great hunters and, <nofollow>at times,</nofollow> vicious hunters, playing with their prey before killing it. They kill countless mice, birds, rabbits, and <nofollow>other wildlife throughout</nofollow> their lives, yet they still remain sweet and cuddly companion animals that are perfectly happy to <noindex><nofollow>sit in</nofollow></noindex> your lap, purring and allowing themselves to be petted. It is not going to be any <nofollow>different with</nofollow> ferrets. Eating raw meat isn't going to transform your sweet little girl into a vicious killer.

<nofollow>Many ferret</nofollow> owners point out that diseases could be passed from the prey animal to the ferret. If <noindex>you are</noindex> feeding your ferret the dead mouse from your mousetrap, the spread of disease is very likely. <noindex><nofollow>However, there</nofollow></noindex> are a number of reputable sources for humanely killed, frozen prey animals, and as long as <nofollow>you stick</nofollow> to getting prey from those sources, your ferret should be fine.

Another misconception is that to <nofollow>feed a</nofollow> natural diet, you must feed live prey. This is not true, nor is it even recommended. <noindex>While some</noindex> ferrets may be able to catch and kill their prey, the majority are going to take <nofollow>time to adjust</nofollow> to a natural diet, let alone be able to hunt for their own food. Ferrets are <nofollow>fully domesticated after</nofollow> all! Also, if you were to feed live animals, you also risk your ferret being bitten <noindex>by the</noindex> prey animal. The point of feeding whole prey is not to allow your ferret to hunt <noindex><nofollow>live animals, it</nofollow></noindex> is to provide a nutritious diet.

TYPES OF NATURAL DIETS

I will discuss two types of natural <noindex>diets in</noindex> this article - a whole prey diet and a raw carnivore diet. Bones and meat are <noindex>the staples of</noindex> a natural diet, regardless of which type you choose to feed.

Whole Prey Diet
A whole prey <nofollow>diet is</nofollow> the most balanced natural diet, and it refers to feeding ferrets pre-killed, frozen prey such as <noindex><nofollow>mice, rats and</nofollow></noindex> chicks. Ferrets have teeth that are designed for cutting meat and bone, so whole prey provides <noindex>them with the</noindex> necessary exercise for teeth and jaws and cleans their teeth and gums. Whole prey also gives <noindex>your ferret</noindex> the chance to experience a variety of tastes and textures, so it's enriching as well.

Raw Carnivore <noindex>Diet
Another</noindex> natural diet option is a raw carnivore diet, which is a good alternative for ferret owners <nofollow>who are</nofollow> hesitant to feed prey animals to their ferrets.

When you consider the big lifestyle change that comes with weight loss, shedding extra pounds is the <noindex><nofollow>easy part. The</nofollow></noindex> hardest part, however, is keeping the weight from coming back, according to many people attempting to <nofollow>diet. You may</nofollow> be wondering how to undertake such a task. Of course there is! Diet diaries assist you <nofollow>in staying

</nofollow> Record your weight loss progress.

Keeping a diet diary benefits weight control by encouraging:

1. By <nofollow>keeping a diary</nofollow> every day, you keep yourself focused on the task at hand as well as how critical <noindex>achieving your</noindex> goals truly is.

2) Planning: Many dieters fail because they don't have regular meal plans and <noindex>aren't sure what</noindex> to do for their daily activities. Without proper planning, a goal is little more than a <noindex>wish --</noindex> which doesn't always lead to change. If you make your plan a week in advance, you <noindex><nofollow>are more likely</nofollow></noindex> to be successful. Be sure that you will able to stay with your plan with all <noindex><nofollow>that you</nofollow></noindex> have going on.

Don't deviate from your plan once you have it. If you can't stick <noindex>to your plan,</noindex> write down why. Keep track of the people that were around you when it happened and <noindex>the situation that</noindex> you were in. Consider this a situation that is high risk and use your information to <noindex>help prevent</noindex> it from happening again.

3. You can keep track of how you are doing by making <noindex><nofollow>use of</nofollow></noindex> your diary and reflecting back. The behavioral patterns that tend to move you toward your goals <noindex>or block</noindex> your progress will become clear as you read through your diary. Keep in mind that you <nofollow>should support all</nofollow> of your efforts toward self-improvement, whether they're weight-related or not.

The Grapefruit Diet is a quick and effortless way to drop weight, at the same time as <noindex>rising in general</noindex> health and wellness. Recognized in the 1930s as the Hollywood Diet, the Grapefruit Diet has been <nofollow>called a fashion</nofollow> diet by many. The theory behind the grapefruit diet is simple enough. The fruit, it is <noindex><nofollow>claimed, contains an</nofollow></noindex> enzyme that actually helps you burn fat. However, a revise in 2004 by Dr Ken Fuijioka <noindex><nofollow>and the nourishment</nofollow></noindex> and Metabolic Research Center at Scripps Clinic establish that there was a physically powerful association between <noindex><nofollow>the use</nofollow></noindex> of grapefruit at each meal and weight failure. Grapefruit diet could be said to be one <noindex>of the</noindex> offshoots of the modern generations obsession with losing weight and appearing attractive. This has propelled the <nofollow>fame of</nofollow> the Grapefruit Diet owing to its ease and efficiency.

The Grapefruit Diet consists of overwhelming either <nofollow>half a</nofollow> grapefruit or a goblet of grapefruit juice before each serving of food. The good information is <nofollow>that grapefruits</nofollow> are low down in calories and sodium, and has been exposed to reduce cholesterol levels and <noindex><nofollow>the danger</nofollow></noindex> of rising diabetes. Needless to say, a balanced diet consisting of all the essential nutrients is <nofollow>needed for</nofollow> sustaining good health.

Research has also shown that eating large amounts of grapefruit often causes diarrhea. <nofollow>The use</nofollow> of grapefruit reduces the level of insulin in the body, which in turn is vital in <noindex><nofollow>the blood sugar</nofollow></noindex> and fat metabolism directive processes. This allows you to procedure the power from your expenditure, and <noindex>the margining</noindex> in grapefruits block the uptake of fatty acids, ornamental weight loss instead of fat storage. The <nofollow>key to</nofollow> keep in mind in the Grapefruit Diet is to diminish utilization of insulin.

A smallest amount <nofollow>use of</nofollow> 8 classes of wet a day is wanted, and having a cup of coffee is allowable <nofollow>but not</nofollow> confident as it obstructs the weight defeat procedure. The grapefruit is vital in the diet as <nofollow>it boot</nofollow> starts the fat burning procedure. However, nutritionists advise against this kind of fad diet, because a <nofollow>diet based</nofollow> on only fruit is considered nutritionally unsound. Work out is also not confident at what time <nofollow>you are</nofollow> on the diet as the near to the ground calorie intake does not give enough energy <noindex>to hold up</noindex> your just behavior.

A universal Grapefruit Diet weight failure menu consists of bacon and eggs in <nofollow>the daybreak, and</nofollow> serving of meat and salads for lunch and dinner You can, for instance, take a healthy <noindex><nofollow>helping of</nofollow></noindex> grapefruit, but along with other essential nutrients which are not found in the fruit. It also <nofollow>includes a not</nofollow> obligatory previous to bed snack, such as a goblet of milk or tomato juice.

All these <noindex>meals are</noindex> proceed with either semi a grapefruit, or an 8oz glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice. Critics point <noindex><nofollow>out that</nofollow></noindex> the grapefruit diet is like any other mythic fad diets, which come and go every now <noindex><nofollow>and then.</nofollow></noindex> The most excellent part of this diet is that there is no limit on the amount <noindex>of meat</noindex> and salads you are overwhelming, so you don not have to be anxious about leaving hungry. <noindex><nofollow>The use of</nofollow></noindex> lard generously in training of food is also confident.

However effectual the Grapefruit Diet may be, <nofollow>it can only</nofollow> be follow on a 12 day series, with a 2 day smash in flanked by before <noindex><nofollow>resume the diet.</nofollow></noindex> You do not need to alter your habit of eating. Of course you will still need <noindex><nofollow>to do some</nofollow></noindex> exercises in order to make the diet even more effective. It is a strictly small term <noindex>diet, and</noindex> study has shown that it is likely in the direction of drop up to ten pounds <nofollow>in two</nofollow> and a half months. According to the study mentioned above, in twelve weeks, one can lose <noindex><nofollow>3.6 pounds if</nofollow></noindex> one takes the grapefruit diet and do some exercise everyday. The diet is supposed to not <noindex>be careful for</noindex> use longer than this occasion period, as it lacks the necessary food groups for a fair <noindex><nofollow>diet and overall</nofollow></noindex> wellness, and has a most limit of 800 calories a day, which is inadequate for daily <nofollow>nourishment.

In a</nofollow> nutshell, the Grapefruit Diet has been established to work, and is extremely efficient. Although the pace <noindex>of losing weight</noindex> is considered slow, the diet still has its advantage over other dieting plans since you will <noindex>probably find it</noindex> a lot easier to stick to this diet. However, it is powerfully optional only as a <nofollow>short term</nofollow> guide to heaviness loss, and wants to be follow with a better diet in the long <noindex><nofollow>term for continued</nofollow></noindex> weight trouncing.

By Dave Tishendorf

Often it happens late at night, just before you crawl into bed.

You're still feeling a little stuffed from - as usual - eating too much at dinner. You wince as you walk past the full-length mirror in your bedroom and see yourself in profile. You wince again as you look in the bathroom as you brush your teeth. That double chin you're starting to form. Those cheeks that are starting to round themselves out. The conclusion is inescapable:

"I'm getting fat. I have GOT to lose weight."

Of course, you've told yourself that a dozen times before, maybe a hundred times. But this time is going to be different, you insist, this time, in the name of all that is holy, you are going to make it work. Enough is enough!

But the question remains: What is the best diet? What is the best way to lose weight?

So over the course of the next few days or weeks you do the research. The diet and cook books pile up. You scour the Internet. You toss out all the cookies and ice cream in the house. Maybe you even buy a treadmill. You talk to friends, relatives and co-workers. "Oh, you should try X diet," says one. "No, no, try XX diet," says another. "Well, I lost 30 pounds in 30 days on the XXX diet," says your chubby neighbor, failing to mention that he gained it all back and then some.

Soon you discover what thousands and thousands of Americans also have discovered: That the answer to "What is the best diet?" can be very difficult to find.

But, undaunted, you pick a diet plan and dive in.

Before too long, however, the idea of eating another salad or drinking 8 glasses of water a day has made you suicidal. Meanwhile, the treadmill is collecting dust in the corner, half hidden by the potted ficus tree.

You look in the mirror and see the same old fat face. What on earth happened?

First off, don't blame yourself. Failure to stick with a restrictive diet plan doesn't mean you're a bad person. Will power wasn't the problem. After all, statistics show that nearly 98 percent of American women and more than 60 percent of American men are on a diet for at least part of every single year. And yet Americans as a whole are getting fatter every year; obesity has reached epic proportions, bringing with it a host of diseases and medical issues.

But if diets don't work, and obesity is unhealthy as well as unattractive, what is the answer? What is a person to do?

** Well, to begin with, and this may be the most important step, you have to analyze why you want to go on a diet in the first place. If you want to lose weight because you are going to get married next June, a diet will be a temporary fix at best. Same thing if all you want to do is be able to wear that favorite pair of pants again.

And don't go on a diet to bolster your self-esteem or to improve your chances with the opposite sex. A diet won't get you a pay raise or a better job. It won't pay your bills or automatically make you healthy or attractive.

Going on a diet for any of the above reasons likely will result in you going back to your previous bad habits sooner rather than later, and you ultimately will suffer the humiliation of another diet failure.

A diet is not just a stopgap measure. It must be an entire lifestyle change or it will certainly fail.

** Second, you have to understand why most diets fail. Many diets read like the assembly instructions of a complex toy - it takes a rocket scientist to figure them out. Other diets require exotic, expensive foods. Still others want you to eat certain foods, but only on certain days. And some diets are so expensive only the very rich (and famous?) can afford them.

** Third, you have to understand what a huge change most diet plans ask you to make. In essence, they are asking you to overhaul your entire life, and to do it quickly. It's similar to asking a heroin addict to kick the habit overnight. Can't be done. Lifelong habits are hard to break. If you have tried a number of diet plans without success, you know how difficult dieting can be. There is a psychological aspect to dieting that has very deep emotional roots. Severing your emotional ties to eating and food can be painful, and no one should underestimate what it takes to go through that process.

So ... rather than a diet plan that tries to jerk you out by your roots and plop you down in the next county, what is needed are small, simple changes carried out over time. In other words, make a small change, stick with it until it becomes a new habit, then make another small change and turn it into another new habit, and so on. Soon you

For those trying to loose weight, choosing from the numerous weight loss programs can be quite a <nofollow>daunting task.</nofollow> The best solution to this problem is to decide not on a diet but a nutritional <noindex><nofollow>change of life.</nofollow></noindex> Dieting for a month or a year will not help if you return to old eating <nofollow>habits. Instead try</nofollow> and choose a diet that can be a consistent way of eating for years to come.

Know <noindex>about some</noindex> diet plans below and choose the best for you:

Atkins

The Atkins diet focuses on a high protein <noindex><nofollow>low carbohydrate diet.</nofollow></noindex> Because carbohydrates are used for energy, eliminating their intake forces the body to use fat stores. <noindex>If breads,</noindex> rice, and potatoes favorites then this might not be the right lifestyle choice.

The South Beach <nofollow>diet also</nofollow> restricts carbohydrates. The South Beach diet does not allow consumption of bad fats. In addition this <noindex>diet does not</noindex> strictly count carbohydrates and allows carbs with a low glycemic index.

The Zone Diet

The Zone Diet plan <nofollow>is based on</nofollow> eating the correct combination of foods, 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbohydrates. For those who <nofollow>can enjoy the</nofollow> bad foods in extreme moderation this way of eating might work well.

Mediterranean Diet

The Mediterranean Diet focuses <noindex>more on keeping</noindex> the heart healthy than losing weight. It focuses on eating a lot of vegetables and fruits <noindex><nofollow>and some nuts</nofollow></noindex> and wine and using good oils for cooking. Fish is encouraged while red meat is discouraged. <nofollow>Keep in mind</nofollow> weight loss will be slow.

Macrobiotic Diet

This diet is low fat, high fiber and is mostly vegetarian. <nofollow>In this</nofollow> meal plan whole grains make up about 50% of each meal. Vegetables make up about 30% <noindex><nofollow>and beans make</nofollow></noindex> up about 10% of the diet. Fish is allowed in very small amounts and meat, poultry <noindex>and eggs are</noindex> not permitted. This is a very restrictive diet and might not be a good lifestyle choice.

Gluten <nofollow>Free

A Gluten Free</nofollow> diet is mostly for those allergic to wheat. It avoids all foods containing gluten or from <noindex><nofollow>gluten cereals like</nofollow></noindex> wheat, rye or barley. In addition this does not promote weight loss.

Detox Diets

Most detox diets are <noindex><nofollow>liquid diets</nofollow></noindex> whose purpose is to rid the body of harmful chemicals and toxins. There are some special <noindex>formulated liquids</noindex> to aid in this type of diet and some people just drink hot water with lemon <noindex>for a</noindex> few days and consume nothing else. Obviously there is weight loss but this is not a <noindex>long term</noindex> nutritional plan.

While choosing a new nutritional lifestyle is advantageous to weight and health, good fitness programs <noindex><nofollow>should also be</nofollow></noindex> included. Aerobic activity and weight trains should be included in a fitness routine.

Detoxification or commonly known as detox is the process that eradicates dangerous toxins from the body. Toxins <noindex>are danger causing</noindex> chemicals that get removed through the excretory system by the process of natural detoxification. The toxins <noindex><nofollow>get flushed out</nofollow></noindex> of the body in the form of urine or stools.

Detox diets have been known to not <noindex><nofollow>only aid people</nofollow></noindex> loose weight, they have been know to help increase energy level, cure head aches and other <noindex><nofollow>body pains.</nofollow></noindex> Because of these benefits, detox diets are gaining popularity everyday. The best part of these diets <nofollow>is they</nofollow> help in complete annihilation of toxins.

A typical detox diet includes a mixture of modified food routine <nofollow>to include</nofollow> diet food and supplements, exercise, hydrotherapy, breathing therapy and sauna therapy. There are some controversial methods <nofollow>for body</nofollow> detoxification like liver flush and colon hydrotherapy; it's best to keep away these diets. Experts in <noindex><nofollow>the field suggest</nofollow></noindex> new comers to first test out the simple detox diet plan. The fundamental idea of detox <noindex>programs is</noindex> to cleanse certain organs such as kidneys, liver, lungs, skin and lymph system of toxins. Even <noindex>so, you</noindex> can have tailor-made diet programs based on your specific requirements. It's best to detox your body <noindex><nofollow>with a</nofollow></noindex> detox diet at least twice a year. After you have completed your detox diet, some specialist <nofollow>prescribe less rigid</nofollow> diets that help you to gradually move back to normalcy. Of course, there are people who <noindex><nofollow>continue to take</nofollow></noindex> fruits and vegetables even after their detox diet has been completed.

There are an remarkable number of <noindex>varieties in detox</noindex> diets. Even so, there are some governing circumstances concerning what should be included and what should <nofollow>be definitely kept</nofollow> away from in the best diets. All detox diets have one rule in common - include <nofollow>lots of organic</nofollow> fruits, vegetables, nuts and drink herbal tea and lots of water.

These diets work on the idea <noindex>of including</noindex> sufficient nutrients in the form of vitamins and antioxidants that aid the body in finding a <noindex><nofollow>means to cleanse</nofollow></noindex> itself.

The most efficient method to an unfailing detox diet is to ensure that you drink lots <noindex>of pure drinking</noindex> water; it's not desirable to drink public water or bottled water as there are no safety <nofollow>guarantees for</nofollow> both. Almost all types of body detox diets include water which is the most excellent natural <noindex><nofollow>detoxifier. You don't</nofollow></noindex> even need any customized diet when you have water. Most of the detox diets last only <noindex><nofollow>for about 14</nofollow></noindex> days anyway.

Some may experience some side effects like headaches or diarrhea during the diet but it's <noindex><nofollow>perfectly normal</nofollow></noindex> as long it's not too extreme. Because of this, it's important to make sure you are <noindex><nofollow>hydrated all</nofollow></noindex> the time. If sufficient water is not consumed every day, constipation might set in.

There are a <noindex>lot of ways</noindex> for toxins to get into the body such as through pollution, smoking, coffee, tea and lots <nofollow>of other ways.</nofollow> These toxins get discarded when you go on a detox diet routine. Upon completion of a <nofollow>detox diet ,</nofollow> you'll find that you're much more energetic than before, feel younger and in excellent physical shape. <noindex><nofollow>Detox diet is</nofollow></noindex> a mean to cure a lot of health complaints such as continuous tiredness and body aches.

Confusion Galore

The phrase "fad diet" is thrown around so much these days that there seems to <noindex>be quite</noindex> a bit of confusion as to really what is a fad diet, or at least what <nofollow>the term</nofollow> actually means. Let break it down to understand it.

Everything Diets

Most people think "diet" means <noindex><nofollow>to lose weight.</nofollow></noindex> It actually means just what you are eating to sustain yourself. My pet parrot is on <noindex>a diet... corn,</noindex> sunflower, safflower, and other assorted seeds, and therefore my parrot is on a diet of parrot <noindex>mix. He is</noindex> not losing any weight or at least I hope not. A horse's diet is hay! You <noindex><nofollow>are on a</nofollow></noindex> diet, whatever you eat on a daily basis. Now you cold be on a "weight loss <noindex>diet" or</noindex> you could be on a "muscle building diet" or any other number of diet possibilities. Everyone <noindex><nofollow>is on a</nofollow></noindex> diet!

Memory Lane

Remember the pet rock, hoola hoops, beanie babies, platform shoes? All fads that <nofollow>have come and</nofollow> gone. And that is exactly what a fad is, something that is popular for a while <noindex>and then disappears.</noindex> Fads are usually fun and that is why people like them.

Back to The Question

Now <nofollow>back to</nofollow> the meat of the subject. What is a fad diet? Since everyone and their brother is <noindex><nofollow>looking for</nofollow></noindex> an easy way to lose weight any weight loss diet that is popular for a short <noindex>time and</noindex> then falls from favor would be considered a fad diet. This could be due to the <noindex>diet actually</noindex> not working or more often than not most people are like those channel hopping TV remote <nofollow>abusers, jumping</nofollow> from diet to diet looking for a fast and easy way to lose weight with the <noindex><nofollow>smallest effort. Looking</nofollow></noindex> for that magic formula that doesn't exist.

Blasting Stereotypes

Some times the term fad diet is <nofollow>used negatively</nofollow> as if all popular weight loss diets are just scams and therefore "fad diets" This is <noindex>just not</noindex> true. Yes, I can think of some that are jokes but that is not true with <nofollow>all weight loss</nofollow> diets. Many out there are quality plans and only fail if the user does not correctly <noindex><nofollow>implement them.

Benefits</nofollow></noindex> For You

It really boils down to this. You can lose weight without any purchased diet <noindex>plan or</noindex> program. To do so you will have to do all the research to learn about the <noindex>ins and outs</noindex> proper weight loss techniques and then implement your own plan and stick to it. This can <nofollow>be time</nofollow> consuming and most people have time constraints or would rather spend their free time doing something <nofollow>else. A quality</nofollow> diet program takes all the work out of doing the research and coming up with a <noindex><nofollow>plan of</nofollow></noindex> action. A good program will keep you organized, motivated and on track.

Conclusion:

So the next <noindex>time some</noindex> one tells you "I am on a diet" say "yeah, me too, food!'" and remember not <noindex>all fad</noindex> diets are created equal. Bet you thought all fad diets were scams. Guess what, I have <noindex>examined dozens and</noindex> All fad diets are NOT created equal.

Temporary diets don't work, but a lifestyle switch to a vegetarian diet does, If the lactovegetarian and <nofollow>the ovo-lactovegetarian</nofollow> diets are planned well, they will contain all the vitamins and minerals the body needs for <nofollow>good health.</nofollow> Vitamins and minerals that may be lacking in the vegan diet are vitamin B-12, vitamin D, <noindex>riboflavin, calcium,</noindex> zinc, and iron.

Given these carefully defined parameters, the phrase "Traditional Vegetarian Diet" is used here <nofollow>to represent the</nofollow> healthy traditional ovo-lacto vegetarian diets of these regions and peoples. A total vegetarian diet, also called <noindex><nofollow>a vegan (vee'</nofollow></noindex> gun) diet, excludes all animal products. You maybe interested to find out that there are several <nofollow>types of</nofollow> vegetarians, and each type of vegetarian diet differ slightly.

Which type of vegetarian are you? There <nofollow>are many reasons</nofollow> why children or families may follow a vegetarian diet. Younger vegetarians are usually part of a <nofollow>family that</nofollow> eats vegetarian meals for health or other reasons. A well-balanced and carefully planned vegetarian diet can <nofollow>be beneficial</nofollow> to children, but parents must be sure to choose foods wisely. Less restrictive forms include the <noindex><nofollow>lacto-ovo vegatarian diet</nofollow></noindex> (includes dairy products and eggs) and the lacto-vegetarian diet (includes dairy products). Interestingly, many people who <noindex><nofollow>claim to</nofollow></noindex> be "vegetarian" do not fit into any of the categories above. Third world studies have also <noindex>confirmed that</noindex> children grow normally on vegetarian diets.

The Vegetarian Diet Plan focuses on eating healthy fruits, vegetables, <noindex>grains, beans, nuts,</noindex> seeds, and a small amount of fat, while reducing animal products in the diet substantially. Ovo-lacto <nofollow>vegetarians continue to</nofollow> eat eggs and milk products, while lacto vegetarians only milk products in addition to their vegetarian <nofollow>food. A</nofollow> vegetarian diet is often low in fat. It is lower in fat if low-fat milk products <nofollow>are used,</nofollow> and if it does not have too many nuts and seeds. So review the many reasons <noindex><nofollow>to adopt</nofollow></noindex> a vegetarian diet, including environmental and resource implications of the standard American diet. Today, with the <noindex><nofollow>increased focus</nofollow></noindex> on decreasing fat and possibly calories in the diet, there is an increased interest in vegetarian <noindex>diets. Besides nutrition,</noindex> current reasons for adhering to vegetarianism may be religion, health, ethics, ecology or economics. Mostly vegetarian <noindex><nofollow>- This is</nofollow></noindex> a good beginning for those who wish to switch gradually to an all vegetarian diet.

Usually, <nofollow>one starts</nofollow> by removing all red meats from their diet. People who follow vegetarian diets can get all <nofollow>the nutrients they</nofollow> need. However, they must be careful to eat a wide variety of foods to meet their <noindex><nofollow>nutritional needs. Because</nofollow></noindex> a vegetarian diet is lower in saturated fats, the statistics for cholesterol show that after just <nofollow>two weeks on</nofollow> a vegetarian diet, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and total/HDL cholesterol may decrease as much as <nofollow>33%. Cancer is</nofollow> the second leading cause of death in the United States. Some research indicates that a vegetarian <noindex><nofollow>diet makes</nofollow></noindex> your body more responsive to insulin ? In fact, in a 2006 study published in the <nofollow>journal Diabetes Care,</nofollow> 43 percent of people with type 2 diabetes who ate a low-fat vegan diet reduced their <nofollow>need for</nofollow> diabetes medications. Today, with the increased focus on decreasing fat and possibly calories in the diet, <noindex>there is</noindex> an increased interest in vegetarian diets. Besides nutrition, current reasons for adhering to vegetarianism may be <noindex>religion, health,</noindex> ethics, ecology or economics. Many adults choose vegetarian diets, each for their own reasons. Some cite <nofollow>animal rights while</nofollow> others believe that avoiding meat consumption is the healthiest way to eat.

Whatever their reasons, some <noindex>vegetarians express concerns</noindex> about the healthfulness of a vegetarian diet for babies and children, wondering if it can provide <nofollow>growing kids with</nofollow> all that they need for healthy development. Colorectal cancer was positively associated with old age and <noindex><nofollow>male gender, and</nofollow></noindex> inversely associated with vegetarian diet, low BMI and economic deprivation. Today, with the increased focus on <noindex>decreasing fat and</noindex> possibly calories in the diet, there is an increased interest in vegetarian diets. Besides nutrition, current <nofollow>reasons for</nofollow> adhering to vegetarianism may be religion, health, ethics, ecology or economics. Mostly vegetarian - This is <noindex>a good</noindex> beginning for those who wish to switch gradually to an all vegetarian diet. Usually, one starts <nofollow>by removing</nofollow> all red meats from their diet.

A vegetarian diet includes grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. <nofollow>Lactovegetarians consume</nofollow> dairy products, and ovolactovegetarians consume eggs as well. This is a balanced vegetarian diet plan that <noindex><nofollow>you can follow</nofollow></noindex> for LIFE. It provides a choice of easy breakfasts, lunches, easy main meals and desserts - <nofollow>plus snacks. A</nofollow>

Mediterranean diet is a healthy eating plan that includes the elements of Mediterranean-style cooking. It is the <noindex><nofollow>way to</nofollow></noindex> eat and drink your way to health. The Mediterranean diet is noteworthy because of the fact <nofollow>that it</nofollow> is very low in saturated fat. Another reason why the diet is good for you lies <noindex>in the fact</noindex> that the diet includes the consumption of a significant amount of fruit and vegetables.

Diet scientists have <noindex><nofollow>been trying</nofollow></noindex> to determine why the Mediterranean Sea inhabitants have less heart disease and cancer thus live longer <nofollow>than Europeans and</nofollow> Americans. The researchers say results suggest the beneficial effect of the Mediterranean diet on heart disease <nofollow>and hardening of</nofollow> the arteries is most likely a result of the combined effects of the different nutrients contained <nofollow>in the food,</nofollow> rather than any one factor.

Numerous studies have examined the effectiveness of the Mediterranean diet in lowering <nofollow>cholesterol, and</nofollow> these studies appear promising. Most of these studies have focused on the Mediterranean diet, emphasizing the <noindex><nofollow>consumption of</nofollow></noindex> high amounts of virgin olive oil (up to one liter per week) or nuts (up to <noindex>30 grams a</noindex> day, or two handfuls), or in comparison to a low-fat diet. The Mediterranean diet does allow <nofollow>dairy fat</nofollow> and alcohol in moderation.

The typical person who follows the Mediterranean diet intakes less than eight percent <nofollow>of his</nofollow> or her calories from potentially harmful saturated fat. This is significantly below the average of people <noindex>who do not</noindex> follow a Mediterranean diet regimen. One of the reasons that the Mediterranean diet lowers the incidence <noindex>of cancer is</noindex> found in the fact that the diet is rich in whole grains and dietary fiber. Because <nofollow>the Mediterranean diet</nofollow> is low in red meat, the diet plan works to reduce the amount of bad cholesterol. <nofollow>The closer people</nofollow> adhered to the Mediterranean diet, the lower their levels of various measures of inflammation, which recent <noindex><nofollow>research shows plays</nofollow></noindex> a major role in development of heart disease.

Cholesterol

At a closer glance, the Mediterranean diet closely mirrors <noindex><nofollow>the essentials of</nofollow></noindex> a low cholesterol diet, encompassing factors such as:High consumption of fiber, due to the high consumption <noindex><nofollow>of whole grains,</nofollow></noindex> vegetables, and fruits. In one study it appeared that cholesterol was lowered significantly more than a <noindex>low-fat diet. Whether</noindex> you want to lose weight, lower your cholesterol, eat more fruits and vegetables, or just feel <nofollow>healthier in</nofollow> general, adopting a Mediterranean Diet is a great way to eat better while enjoying a delicious <noindex><nofollow>variety of</nofollow></noindex> food.

Conclusion

The Mediterranean diet is similar to the American Heart Association's Step I diet, but it contains <noindex><nofollow>less cholesterol</nofollow></noindex> and has more fats. The focus of the Mediterranean diet isn't to limit total fat consumption, <nofollow>but to</nofollow> make wise choices about the types of fat you eat. In order to follow the Mediterranean <nofollow>diet you</nofollow> do not need to buy any special products or prepare a unique and hard to manage <noindex>diet plan. Adopting</noindex> a Mediterranean diet is easy if you're a smart shopper.
